BUNGEOPPANG
Bungeoppang. The cakes that shaped
fish filled with something inside. This is are cute and delicious. Even though
it is in the form of a fish, there is no fish in it. Bungeoppang is often found
on the roadside in Korea because it is a popular street food there. Surely, you
are no stranger to this Korean cake, its often appears in Korean dramas. Let's
try to make it, and you can eat it while watching Korean dramas so you can feel
the Korean sensation :D
WHAT IS BUNGEOPPANG?
Bungeoppang's name in Korean comes
from the word "bungeo" meaning carp and the word "ppang"
referring to bread. This fish cake first appeared in Korea around 1930. Bungeoppang
is a cake originating from South Korea that is similar to waffles. It’s also
“brother” with Japanese food Taiyaki. Both of them are cake baked in the form
of a fish.
However, the Korean version of this
cake is smaller and cheaper. In addition, Bungeoppang is simpler because it
only has one type of filling which is red beans. While, Taiyaki has a denser
filling and a variety of choices such as red beans, chocolate, sausage, bacon,
and many more.
