CROFFLE

CROFFLE

Croffle.  The perfect combination of two bakeries and pastry. When you bite into it, you will feel the fluffy and soft inside, and several layers of flakes and a crunchy outside. You will be addicted to croffles from the first bite.

The croffle was created by an Irish pastry chef and it eventually become widely popular across the globe, especially in Korea. You will love this croffle recipe because it is simple but so satisfying! You won’t regret it!

WHAT IS CROFFLE?

Croffles are a cross between a croissant and a waffle. This dish was invented by an Irish pastry chef named Louise Lennox. He wanted to create unique food creations by trying to combine two European favorite desserts, waffles and croissants. The shape and dough of the two different cakes were then put together and created croffles in 2017.

Croissants and a waffle. Both are famous for being a Western-style breakfast, but they are actually two different cakes. While croissants generally have a crescent-like shape, waffles have many shapes depending on the mold. In terms of dough, croissants and waffles are different too, if croissants dough must be rested before being shaped and baked. While the waffle dough is liquid and can be baked immediately after all the ingredients are mixed.

Croffle has a unique texture, because Croffle is made from croissant dough and then cooked by baking it in a waffle mold. The texture of the croffle is a combination of the soft and chewy texture on the inside of the croissant, and the crunchy texture on the outside of the waffle. This is a delicious combination of the flavors of a croissant and waffle.

YOU CAN MAKE CREATION WITH CROFFLE!

What I love about these croffles is that you can make creation with this cake, you can top them with whatever you like, you can choose the best various toppings and variants that you like. Louise Lennox made the first innovation of croffles by giving avocado, sweet tomatoes, cream of feta cheese, and a sprinkling of crumbs of gremolata then topped with a sprinkling of toasted hazelnuts that have been roughly chopped.

Nowadays, there are more and more innovations in croffle flavors and toppings, such as chicken sauce, fruit topping, salted caramel, chocolate jam, grated/cream cheese, green tea, peanut butter, strawberry jam, and many more. You can try all of these flavors or try other flavors!
