YANGNYEOM CHICKEN
Every country has a special fried
chicken variant like South Korea which has a special fried chicken called
Yangyeom Chicken. The word chicken in South Korea means "fried
chicken", sometimes also referred
to as grilled chicken, and yangnyeom means "seasoned". In other
words, yangnyeom chicken means "spiced fried chicken." However,
outside of Korea, yangnyeom chicken is often called "Korean fried
chicken." This fried chicken is not just fried, but has its special taste
because it is drizzled with gochujang (Korean chili paste).
The first maker of the yangnyeom
chicken recipe, Yoon Jonggye, came up with the idea after analyzing leftovers
from his restaurant customers. He realized that the skin of ordinary fried
chicken was too crispy so it made his customers' mouths blister. Finally,
he coats the fried chicken with sauce to soften the skin, and this recipe is called yangnyeom chicken.

HOW TO MAKE
YANGNYEOM CHICKEN?
Ingredients:
1. 300gr
Chicken breast
2. An egg
3. 2 tbs
cornstarch
4. 1 tbs soy
sauce
5. Salt &
pepper
Gochujang
sauce:
1. 2 cloves of
garlic
2. 1 tbsp sesame
oil
3. 1tbs soy
sauce
4. 1 tbs
gochujang paste
5. 1tbs honey
Instructions:
1. Cut the
chicken
2. Mix egg, 2
tbs cornstarch, 1 tbs soy sauce, salt & pepper, mix well then add chicken
to this mixture. Wait for a few minutes
3. Make the
gochujang sauce (mix the ingredients for the gochujang sauce listed in the
recipe)
4. Heat the
oil, and fry the chicken pieces. Fry the chicken twice, the first to fry the
chicken half-cooked and the second to fry the chicken until it's crunchy
4. Prepare the
pan, add the butter, then pour the gochujang sauce, stir fry, and add the fried
chicken
5. Stir well
until the gochujang sauce covers the whole chicken
6. Add mozzarella
cheese (optional)
7. Serve while warm (you can wrap it with rice and nori to make it more delicious)
